Alignment Sovereignty™

Alignment Sovereignty™ is the structural power of a nation, institution, or organization to define, govern, audit, and preserve its own values, objectives, risk thresholds, and strategic intent as AI systems increasingly mediate decisions and actions.

Traditional AI alignment focuses on whether a model behaves according to specified constraints. Alignment Sovereignty focuses on who has the authority to specify those constraints, whose objectives they encode, and whether the governed entity can revise them without dependence on an external platform, model provider, or foreign authority.

Core dimensions

• Interpretive sovereignty — control over how the entity's identity, data, intent, and actions are interpreted.
• Incentive sovereignty — control over the reward structures and feedback loops that shape system behavior.
• Governance sovereignty — authority to set, audit, and revise safety, policy, and operating rules.
• Deployment sovereignty — the ability to determine when and how aligned systems may be used within the entity's own environment.
